Lil Nas X is breaking his silence on last week’s “terrifying” hospitalization and felony arrest.
On Tuesday, the 26-year-old “Old Town Road” rapper assured his more than 10 million Instagram followers that he’s “gonna be alright.”
“Your girl is gonna be OK, y’all, OK? She’s gonna be alright. She’s gonna be alright. S–t,” Nas chuckled in a short clip posted to his Instagram Story. “That was f—ing terrifying … That was a terrifying last four days, but your girl is gonna be alright.”
The Grammy winner, whose legal name is Montero Lamar Hill, was hospitalized for a potential overdose early Thursday morning after multiple witnesses reported a man walking nearly nude along Ventura Boulevard in Los Angeles.
A bystander’s video, published by TMZ, showed Nas clad in just underwear and cowboy boots as he wandered the thoroughfare at around 4 a.m., telling the man, “Hey, don’t be late to the party tonight.”
In a subsequent clip, the rapper encouraged the man to “gimme that phone, so I can throw it. … I don’t like phones.”
It was reported at the time that Nas, who was also exhibiting bizarre behavior hours prior, had “charged” at responding officers. Police scanner audio, obtained by TMZ, suggests that a taser was used during the incident.
After spending the weekend in custody, Nas appeared in court on Monday, pleading not guilty to four felony charges — three counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one of resisting arrest. He was released later that day after posting $75,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Sept. 15. If convicted on the four charges, he faces up to five years in state prison, according to the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office.
