A 14-year-old Long Island boy riding an electric bike was killed in a Thursday morning collision with an SUV.
The victim was riding through a North Bellmore intersection shortly after 7 a.m. when the fatal crash occurred, according to police in Nassau County.
“The E-Bike operator suffered severe body trauma and was transported by a Nassau County Ambulance to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased by a hospital physician,” police said in a Thursday report.
Law enforcement officials said the unidentified woman who struck the teenager with her 2025 Chevy SUV remained at the scene following the deadly collision. The crash is being investigated.
Local media identified the boy as Mepham High School freshman Jayden Flores. Professional support is reportedly being offered to students impacted by their classmate’s death.
The high school is located roughly 30 miles east of Grand Central Terminal. Its famous alumni include trailblazing comedian Lenny Bruce.
