Long Island pedestrian fatally hit by 3 cars in Jericho



A 43-year-old pedestrian died early Wednesday morning after being hit by three cars near the Long Island Expressway in Jericho.

The unidentified victim was walking east on the North Service Road, near Open Street, when he was first struck around 6 a.m. by a 2023 Mazda being driven by a 79-year-old man, according to Nassau County police.

Shortly after, he was said to have been hit by a 2021 Alfa Romeo driven by a 48-year-old man, followed by a 2014 Mazda operated by a 40-year-old woman.

All three drivers stopped and remained at the scene, where the pedestrian was pronounced dead, police said.

Traffic was temporarily halted while a homicide squad secured the area. The service road was reopened around noon.

An investigation into the fatal incident is ongoing. It’s unclear if any charges will follow.
