Lucy Hale celebrates 4 years sober since ‘personal rock bottom’

Lucy Hale is commemorating four years’ sobriety, spurred by the “Pretty Little Liars” star’s “personal rock bottom.”

Hale, 36, shared a snapshot of her sobriety tracker on Instagram Friday, along with some motivational quotes.

“Four years ago, I reached a very dark chapter and my personal rock bottom. It’s wild to say, but that ended up being the greatest gift and biggest turning point in my life,” said the “Hating Game” actress.

Though sobriety “hasn’t always been smooth” and Hale has experienced “pain, discomfort, loneliness, and deep self-confrontation” as part of it, she said the choice gave her her life back.

“I am deeply grateful for every single moment that has brought me to this point,” she said, encouraging others to remember “there is always a chance to begin again. … It DOES get better. I’ve realized that darkness isn’t always something to fear. It’s often the very thing that leads us toward the light.”

Hale spoke in detail about her relationship with alcohol on the “Sober Doesn’t Mean Boring” episode of “Call Her Daddy,” from Halloween 2023. During the episode, she said sobriety has had on her dating life and she had “not really had a relationship since becoming sober.

However, her relationship with herself has improved. Hale says she is now “feeling so comfortable in my skin and learning to love my body in new ways.”
