A 36-year-old Staten Island man was killed when he was shot in the head during a clash in the Bronx, police said Friday.
Cops responding to a report of a shooting on E. 223rd St. near White Plains Road in Wakefield at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday found Melquan Johnson sprawled out on the ground, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
EMS rushed Johnson to Jacobi Hospital, but he couldn’t be saved.
The gunman ran off and was still being sought Friday.
Johnson lived in Staten Island, nearly 40 miles from where he was killed. It was unclear why he had traveled to the Bronx on Thursday.
