A man was arrested for beating a 71-year-old man with a shovel in Brooklyn following a major snowstorm, cops said.
Sean Abt, 24, was busted Tuesday and charged with assault two days after police released images of the suspect and asked the public’s help in tracking him down.
The elderly victim was on Stryker Court and W. First St. in Gravesend around 8:25 p.m. on Dec. 27 when Abt struck him in the face with the shovel, cops said, adding that medics rushed the victim to Coney Island Hospital in stable condition.
Abt, who lives in Gravesend about a mile away from where the attack occurred, has two prior arrests since 2023, with charges including criminal mischief and robbery.
The night before the attack saw the city’s first major snowfall in nearly four years, with the National Weather Service saying an approximate 4.3 inches of snow had fallen in Central Park.
