A man attacked two police officers inside a Manhattan subway station on Wednesday, biting one cop and slashing the other with a broken bottle, according to police.
The officers were performing a transit inspection inside the W. Fourth St./Washington Square station in Greenwich Village when they spotted a 36-year-old man drinking wine out of a bottle on the northbound platform for the A, C and E trains at around 2:45 p.m., cops said.
The officers approached the man and were speaking with him when he suddenly attacked.
The man broke the wine bottle and slashed one officer on the hand, before biting the other cop on the leg, police said.
The wounded officers managed to place the man in custody. He had not been charged as of Wednesday evening.
The two cops were taken to an area hospital for treatment, police said.
