A man busted after he appeared headed for the roof of Trump Tower in Manhattan was hit with a new charge Tuesday — assaulting an NYPD officer, the Daily News has learned.
Maya Grandorf, 30, allegedly struck a cop in the stomach while in custody at a hospital around 2:30 a.m., and was charged with attempted assault on a police officer, officials said.
At the time, Grandorf was already facing charges of reckless endangerment, criminal trespass and disorderly conduct inside the Fifth Ave. Trump Tower building around 4:30 p.m. Monday, when he allegedly was “running around on the fifth floor” and “acting up trying to get to the roof,” sources told The News.
“It was nothing political, he was emotionally disturbed,” an NYPD anti-terrorism officer told The News. “He was clearly off his meds.”
Grandorf has a prior 2023 arrest; that case is sealed.
His arraignment was pending Tuesday at Manhattan Criminal Court.
