A man has died after getting run over by an SUV in a NYCHA parking lot in the Bronx, and cops are looking for the driver who did not stay at the scene, police said Sunday.
The victim, 27, was struck by the SUV in a parking lot in the St. Mary’s Park NYCHA development near the intersection of Westchester and Cauldwell Aves. in Melrose around 2:30 a.m. Friday, police said.
The driver then fled the scene in an unknown direction, according to cops. It was not immediately clear if the driver knew someone was hit.
After getting a 911 call, medics rushed the victim to Lincoln Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The NYPD Highway District Investigation Squad is heading the case, but there have been no arrests so far.
The victim’s identity is being withheld until his family has been notified.
