Man dies following Brooklyn shed roof collapse

A 43-year-old man died Thursday following a roof collapse in Brooklyn, officials said.

The victim was inside a shed behind a two-story building under construction at the corner of Quentin Road and E. 33rd St. in Marine Park around 8:50 a.m. when the roof of the shed, which contained an HVAC system, collapsed.

A restaurant was located on the building’s first floor, officials said.

Responding firefighters helped remove the injured man from the rubble.

EMS rushed the victim to Brookdale University Medical Center, where he later died. The man’s name was not immediately disclosed as cops first track down family members.

The city Department of Buildings and Office of Emergency Management were trying to determine what caused the roof collapse, which officials said happened in a “rear setback of the building.”
