A daisy dukes-donning man who was filmed in a foul-mouthed exchange with Rep. Nancy Mace has justified their viral store confrontation — insisting the South Carolina Republican was just shopping for her “next pity party” and that he looks better in the short shorts.
Mace had blasted out footage of Ely Murray-Quick — who she bashed as “some unhinged lunatic” — engaging in a heated spat with her in the middle of an Ulta make-up store in Charleston over the weekend.
After their expletive-laden back-and-forth quickly went viral, Murray-Quick fired back with his own blistering response Monday, accusing the lawmaker of having a meltdown just because he asked when her next town hall was.
Describing himself as a “very well-dressed constituent,” Murray-Quick ripped Mace’s claim that he was harassing her while she browsed the skin-care aisle.
“Let’s be perfectly clear: this isn’t about ‘harassment.’ This is about a simple question asked in public, with video evidence that shows Nancy responding before spiraling into a public meltdown,” he wrote in a lengthy statement on social media.
“She wasn’t interrupted, insulted, or blocked from exiting Ulta,” he said.
“She was asked — politely — when she would face her constituents in a real town hall. Her reaction? To run to social media, edit the footage to her liking, and craft a narrative in which she’s the damsel under siege by the ‘radical left.’ It’s laughable. And frankly, it’s unbefitting of someone who claims to be a leader,” Murray-Quick wrote.
The nearly 2-minute clip captured Murray-Quick standing several feet away from Mace in the store as he asked her whether she had any planned public meetings for 2025.
The exchange quickly descended into a barrage of insults as the pair repeatedly shouted, “F–k you!” at each other after Mace assumed Murray-Quick was gay and commented on his clothing choice — despite him not divulging his sexuality in the video.
“If the Ulta employees weren’t able to find a product strong enough to help you wash the hypocrisy off your face, might I recommend heading over to Lowe’s?” Murray-Quick wrote as he took a swipe at Mace in his blistering statement. “I hear they’ve got industrial-grade plaster on sale.
“And as for my daisy dukes? I wear them better. That’s not shade, that’s just science,” he said.
Murray-Quick signed off his statement as a “tax-paying, democracy-loving, well-moisturized constituent who’s tired of the circus — and even more tired of the clown.”
Mace’s video of their mid-store exchange has racked up well over 7 million views on X since it was posted Saturday.
