Man slashed in hand during bloody Brooklyn brawl

A 49-year-old man was rushed to the hospital with a slashed hand after a bloody brawl inside a Brooklyn apartment building early Saturday, police said.

The person arrested for the attack, identified as Luis Soto, tried to kick out the windows of an NYPD patrol car after he was taken into custody and was being brought to the 70th Precinct stationhouse after the 1:50 a.m. assault, officials said.

Police said the mayhem began inside an apartment building on E. 14th St. near Avenue H in Midwood when the victim and another man started arguing with each other.

The two men were strangers to each other, a police source with knowledge of the case said. It wasn’t immediately clear what sparked the fight.

As the pair argued, Soto, 36, flashed a knife. The victim had his left hand slashed open as he tried to grab for the knife, cops said.

EMS rushed the victim to Coney Island Hospital with minor injuries.

Soto was taken into custody, charged with assault, menacing, obstruction of government administration and weapons possession. His arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court was pending.
