Man trying to break up Bronx street argument bashed with baseball bat into critical condition

A man trying to break up a Bronx street argument was bashed into critical condition with a baseball bat, police said Wednesday.

The 31-year-old victim tried to calm down the attacker, who was arguing with a man with a bat who bumped into him on E. 175th St. near Walton Ave. in Morris Heights, cops said.

As the quarrel escalated, the attacker snatched the bat from the man who bumped into him and bashed the peacemaker with it multiple times about 12:50 a.m. Friday.

The victim suffered multiple fractures to his face and skull and is in critical but stable condition at St. Barnabas Hospital.

The attacker ran off and has not been caught.

Cops release surveillance footage of the suspect and are asking the public’s help identifying him and tracking him down.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
