Man walking dog in Manattan bashed with baseball bat by stranger in unprovoked attack


A man walking his dog on the Upper West Side was randomly attacked by a stranger who bashed him multiple times in the face with a baseball bat before running away, police said Thursday.

The 24-year-old victim was walking his pooch near West End Ave. and W. 107th St. near Riverside Park when the stranger ambushed him, whacking him in the face with a baseball bat several times about 10:30 p.m. Sunday, cops said.

The attacker then ran off, heading west towards the park. Cops have now released surveillance images of the suspect and asked the public’s help identifying him and tracking him down.

The victim, who lives on the block where he was attacked, suffered cuts and bruises to his face, arms and legs, according to police. Medics transported him to Mount Sinai Morningside in stable condition.

The dog was unharmed.

The suspect is described as about 5-foot-8 five with a slim build. He was wearing all black and carrying a black baseball bat.
