Mariah Carey bluntly reacts to Nick Cannon co-parenting question

Honey, next question.

Mariah Carey has no interest in talking about how she and ex-husband Nick Cannon go about co-parenting their twins.

The “We Belong Together” hitmaker shied away from addressing her and Cannon’s current relationship while promoting her upcoming new album, “Here For It All,” during a pretaped segment with Gayle King for “CBS Mornings” on Wednesday, Sept. 24.

“I kind of feel like it’s best if I don’t talk about him, because he can just be in his own world,” Carey, 56, said when pressed by the host. “No offense to him.”

Carey and Cannon, 44, tied the knot in 2008 and welcomed fraternal twins Moroccan and Monroe, 14, three years later. The pair announced their separation in 2014 and finalized their divorce in 2016.

Although the “Obsessed” singer was previously married to record exec Tommy Mottola from 1993 to 1998, and has been romantically linked to celebrities like Derek Jeter and Luis Miguel, Moroccan and Monroe are her only children.

As for Cannon, he has 12 kids with six different women. Besides Carey, the “Masked Singer” host shares children with Brittany Bell, Abby De La Rosa, Bre Tiesi, LaNisha Cole, and Alyssa Scott.

In July, Carey addressed her and Cannon’s co-parenting relationship in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar.

“How do I say this? They spend time with him, and they have a good time; they spend time with me, and they have a good time,” she told the outlet.

“I want to make sure I’m always fair about the situation because it’s tough to grow up with divorced parents,” Carey added at the time.

“They’re a lot, but they give me so much love in return,” she told People in 2019. “I wouldn’t be the same person without them. I think Nick and I have done pretty well in co-parenting, staying friends with each other so that we can talk.”

Elsewhere during Wednesday’s episode of “CBS Mornings,” Carey opened up about the devastating deaths of her mother, Patricia, and estranged sister, Alison. The pair both passed away on August 24, 2024.

“I don’t know how I processed it; I just know that it was extremely difficult for me to navigate, and it was tough because I have always had an interesting relationship with my mother,” the “Vision of Love” singer told King.

“It hasn’t been easy, but towards the end, I was with her the whole time,” she continued. “I was with her the whole time. And so, I feel better about that.”

Carey added that she “made peace” with her mother before her mother’s passing last year at 87.

“She said a couple of things to me that were very healing for what I needed, and I felt that that was the right thing to do,” the singer shared.

As for her late sister, Carey admitted that she felt guilty that Alison had passed away before they had a chance to repair their broken relationship. She was 63.

“And my sister, I hadn’t seen in years, and I feel really bad about that as well, but that’s because I tend to have a guilt complex about everything, but it’s tough,” she said. “My sister had an extremely hard life.”

The “Hero” singer announced that she lost both her mother and sister in an emotional statement a few days after their deaths.

“My heart is broken that I’ve lost my mother this past weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day,” Carey shared at the time.

“I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed,” she added. “I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time.”
