Christmas is canceled — at least tonight in Pittsburgh.
Mariah Carey was forced to cancel her Christmas concert at PPG Paints Arena on Wednesday, just hours before she was set to hit the stage.
The “All I Want for Christmas Is You” singer, 55, announced the news on X (formerly Twitter), revealing she’s too sick to perform.
“Pittsburgh, I am sorry to say, I’ve come down with the flu,” Carey told her followers. “It breaks my heart that I unfortunately have to cancel tonight’s show. I love you all so much.”
The show was part Mariah Carey’s Christmas Time tour, which kicked off on Nov. 6 in Highland, Calif., and will conclude on Dec. 17 in New York.
Ticketmaster informed Pittsburg ticket holders that a full refund would be issued, per its website. At the time of this post, she has not rescheduled the show.
Carey’s next performance is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 13, at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. It’s unclear if her health will improve by then.
Her illness comes just days after she celebrated her holiday classic, “All I Want for Christmas You,” dominating Billboard’s Hot 100 chart again this week.
Carey’s 13-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan, whom she shares with ex-husband Nick Cannon, joined the celebration by presenting their superstar mom with flowers at her Raleigh, N.C., concert on Monday.
The Grammy winner expressed her gratitude on social media, paying tribute to the moment by posting a video of the sweet gesture.
“Last night on stage in Raleigh, North Carolina, I found out that All I Want For Christmas Is You returned to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100,” Carey captioned the clip.
“I couldn’t have dreamed of a better time or place to celebrate the news than on stage with my amazing fans, my kids and my #Christmastime tour family. I love you and am so grateful to you all ❤️❤️❤️ M.”
The festive tune — initially released on her “Merry Christmas” album in Nov. 1994 — hit the Hot 100’s top 10 list for the first time in Dec. 2017, according to Billboard.
“All I Want For Christmas” also made the top five for the first time in 2018.
While others — like Jason Kelce and Stevie Nicks — have tried to dethrone Carey as the “Queen of Christmas,” it’s led the holiday charts for the past five seasons, including for three weeks in 2019, two weeks in 2020, three weeks in 2021, four weeks in 2022 and two weeks in 2023, Billboard reports.
