Marine One makes emergency landing with Trump on board

Marine One made an emergency landing Thursday while bringing President Trump and the first lady to England’s Stansted Airport for their return trip to the U.S.

The helicopter landed safely in an airfield where another chopper picked up its passengers and delivered them to their destination. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt blamed the issue on a “minor hydraulic issue” and said the pilot landed the aircraft prematurely out of an “abundance of caution,” according to Scripps News.

Marine One is the call signal for any helicopter carrying the Commander-in-Chief. Trump and the first lady the boarded Air Force One for their return to the White House following a state visit that began Tuesday.

Air Force One experienced some aerial excitement Tuesday when a Spirit Airlines passenger jet travelling from Florida to Massachusetts got uncomfortably close to the plane bringing Trump across the Atlantic Ocean.

The Spirit Airlines pilot was told by an air traffic controller to “pay attention” as he flew within 7 miles of Air Force One.

President Trump celebrated the 78th anniversary of the U.S. Air Force Thursday by posting a photo of several fighter jets and a bomber on Truth Social. The Air Force uses two highly customized Boeing 747-200B jets to transport the President.
