In 1970, The Jackson 5 were on top of the world.
That year alone, “I Want You Back,” “ABC,” “The Love You Save” and “I’ll Be There” all reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and Michael, Jermaine, Tito, Jackie and Marlon could seemingly do no wrong.
54 short years later, a lot has changed but the group is still going strong.
“We have a Jackson party onstage,” Marlon Jackson told the New York Post in an exclusive interview about the Motown group’s upcoming short tour. “There’s so much negative energy flowing through the air across the globe, right? People deserve to be happy and laugh and smile so that that’s what we try to be.”
On Friday, Oct. 25, Marlon, Jackie and Tito’s son Taryll will bring the “Jackson party” to Atlantic City’s Etess Arena at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino along with co-headliners Billy Ocean and The Pointer Sisters.
“We try to do the majority of our hit records during the show and cover a few of Michael’s songs as well,” Jackson, 67, shared. “New fans are there, old fans are there. People in the crowd are 10, 12, 15, 20, 30, 80-years-old.”
At the show — as well as other upcoming gigs — the remaining members also remember their brothers that are no longer with us.
“Tito used to do a song that he had called ‘Love One Another’ with Stevie Wonder on harmonica,” Jackson said. “So we’re going to keep that song in the show to honor Tito. We’ll show some photos of us with Tito and Michael and pay tribute to them. We will talk about them too but we’ll be careful because I don’t want to choke up on stage. They’re going to join us on this show in spirit.”
And while the show will be emotional, Marlon still promises it will be a Jackson party.
“We come on last, do our set, have a great time and move on.”

The Jacksons new music
Over 60 years into their career, Marlon and Jackie are still putting together original songs.
“We’re going to do some new music,” Jackson claimed. “We have something new coming. Some singles. It’s going to sound like a mix of the classic Jackson 5, The Jacksons and something new.”
Funny enough, he’s just now processing how amazing he and his brothers were back in their heyday.
I’ve been seeing videos on Instagram of us and I keep thinking, ‘wow, we were really good’ because you don’t think about it,” he laughed. “It never dawned on us. We just did our own choreography and all that stuff, Michael, Jackie and myself.”
