Damon Wayans Sr. is far from being the last Boy Scout.
After the “My Wife and Kids” star, 64, admitted to dating his nephew’s former girlfriend after his 2000 split from ex-wife Lisa Thorner, his brother Marlon Wayans is sounding off.
“Damon, you gotta stop doing that,” the “White Chicks” actor, 52, said directly into the camera in footage recorded by TMZ on Tuesday. “Damon’s the girlfriend stealing bandit in the Wayans family.”
Marlon made it crystal clear that Damon is no stranger to these types of situations, adding, “We got a thing, don’t bring a girl around D.”
“You gotta stop this Damon,” expressed Marlon. “It’s not what brothers and siblings and uncles and nephews do.”
The “Scary Movie” alum and “Poppa’s House” star are just two out of the five Wayans siblings. The tight-knit family also includes Shawn Wayans, 54, Keenen Ivory Wayans, 66, and Kim Wayans, 63.
Marlon teased, “Even the ugly ones,” before he quipped, “he takes them all.”
Damon first confessed to striking up a romance with an unnamed woman who once dated his nephew earlier this month while on the “Club Shay Shay” podcast.
“This can’t be true … that you dated the same woman that your nephew was?” host Shannon Sharpe asked his guest.
“I was in love with her, that’s the thing,” Damon explained. “Come on, you ain’t never done the Jackson 5?”
The “In Living Color” vet referenced how Jermaine Jackson married Alejandra Oaziaza, who was the ex-girlfriend of Jermaine’s brother Randy, in 1995.
The couple had several kids before splitting in 2003.
“That’s off-limits, Damon,” Sharpe, 56, added while suppressing a laugh.
“No, but it wasn’t like they were in love,” Damon justified. “You know how small the pool is out here in Cali? The dating pool? Like, and this was probably … 2001, 2.”
The star confessed that he knew the mystery woman was his nephew’s former flame when they got together.
“I got divorced and I was by myself for two years and then I saw her, and I was just like, ‘Oh my God, I’m in love,’ Damon said. “And I found out my nephew had dated her. I’m like, ‘What’s up with that?’ He’s like, ‘That’s you.’ I’m like, ‘Okay, pass the Courvoisier.’ And I went ahead, and I fell in love. And it was okay.”
However, he did note that “family gatherings is awkward.”
These days, Damon is at peace with being single but won’t rule out marriage down the line.
“I don’t date, I’m happy,” he expressed. “I wake up in the morning like a kid. I can do whatever I want to do. There’s peace in my house. I’ve been by myself too long. No, I’ll never say never, because if some woman can climb over the wall of resentment, she was sent from God.”
Damon and Lisa share four kids — sons Damon Wayans Jr. and Michael Wayans and daughters Kyla Wayans and Cara Wayans. The pair divorced in 2000 after 16 years of marriage.
A year after their breakup, the actor starred in the beloved sitcom “My Wife and Kids,” opposite Tisha Campbell.
The show ran for five seasons until 2005. Damon recently shed light on the possibility of a reboot 20 years later.
“It was talked about,” he told Revolt in an interview published on Monday. “But for me, the fact that we had it all figured out – the next season where I found out that Jay was pregnant, Tisha’s character was pregnant, and the next season would have been what’s it like being older parents. But because we didn’t get a chance to finish it, to say goodbye or wrap it up, it just felt weird. And it felt like we would quickly be rehashing the same thing – the same kind of topics.”
Damon added, “It ran its course and it was beautiful.”
However, the comic teased some ideas for a possible reunion.
“I would really be open to doing a special,” Damon confessed. “A ‘Wife and Kids’ special would be wonderful, where we get a chance to wrap up the show in a more respectful way. It was one of the greatest moments in my career, doing that show with those people who I just love.”
