Matthew Perry’s grave has a new plaque 2 years after his death — featuring a special nod to ‘Friends’

The one where Matthew Perry’s iconic role is remembered.

Two years after the actor died at age 54 at his Pacific Palisades, Calif., home on Oct. 28, 2023, Perry’s resting place at the Forest Lawn cemetery in Hollywood Hills gained a new addition.

As seen on Instagram, the previously unmarked space now bears a bronze plaque that reads “Matthew Langford Perry. August 19, 1969 – October 28, 2023. Much Loved. Friend.”

Perry starred as the beloved Chandler Bing on the sitcom “Friends” for ten seasons from 1994 to 2004.

The series also featured David Schwimmer, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow and Matt LeBlanc. The cast has stayed tight-knit since the show went off the air in the early 2000s.

“The crypt of Matthew Perry has been marked at Forest Lawn Hollywood — forever remembered in the hearts of friends and fans all over the world,” the Hollywood Graveyard’s Instagram caption read.

According to Perry’s autopsy report, his death was due to “acute effects of ketamine,” and the manner was accidental drowning.

Last February, the documentary “Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy,” premiered on Peacock.

“I don’t think it’s too soon for a [documentary]. I think the impact of his death is fresh,” the doc’s director and executive producer, Robert Palumbo, told The Post at time.

Schwimmer, 59, Aniston, 56, Cox, 61, Kudrow, 62, and LeBlanc, 58, were not involved with the project.

Palumbo said “understandably, they were reluctant to go on a documentary about Matthew at this point. Maybe many years down the line … We understand their decision not to appear.”

“Many of us remember getting that news that he had died, and then eventually getting the details [that gave] sort of waves of anger,” he added. “I feel like people still have him in their hearts and minds. As the facts began to come out about what happened to him, how he died and what possibly could have been a ring of people that sort of facilitated his death, I was really upset.”

Throughout his life, Perry was open about his struggles with addiction.

“He was someone who wanted to be remembered, not so much for his time on ‘Friends’ but for how he has been able to help other people with addiction issues. I think that that’s still the case to this day, even after his death,” said the director.

“I think he will have a legacy of helping other people. And Morgan [Fairchild] thought that was really the most important thing to communicate.”

Despite not appearing in the documentary, Perry’s “Friends” co-stars have penned multiple touching tributes to their late pal on social media.

“Shot the pilot, ‘Friends Like Us,’ got picked up then immediately, we were at the NBC Upfronts. Then …
You suggested we play poker AND made it so much fun while we initially bonded. Thank you for that,” Kudrow posted on Instagram at the time of his death.

“Thank you for making me laugh so hard at something you said, that my muscles ached, and tears poured down my face EVERY DAY. Thank you for your open heart in a six way relationship that required compromise. And a lot of ‘talking,’” she added.

Kudrow concluded her message: “Thank you for showing up at work when you weren’t well and then, being completely brilliant. Thank you for the best 10 years a person gets to have. Thank you for trusting me. Thank you for all I learned about GRACE and LOVE through knowing you. Thank you for the time I got to have with you, Matthew.”

Earlier this month, Los Angeles federal court Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett sentenced Dr. Salvador Plasencia to two 1/2 years for his role in supplying Perry with ketamine in the month leading up to his passing.

At the sentencing, the prosecution submitted a statement from Perry’s mom, Suzanne, and his stepdad, Keith Morrison, saying Plasencia “is among the most culpable of all.”

Plasencia is the first of five defendants who are set to be sentenced. Four others, including “Ketamine Queen” drug dealer Jasveen Sangha, previously took plea deals.
