Meghan Markle emailed dad after leg amputation: reports

Meghan Markle emailed her estranged father, Thomas, after he underwent emergency leg amputation surgery last week, according to multiple reports.

Other Markle family members have said Thomas, 81, did not receive the message because he no longer uses email, according to US Weekly.

The Duchess of Sussex, 44, sent the email on Friday morning in the U.S., People magazine reported. Thomas lives in the Philippines and reportedly never received the message.

Meghan does not have Thomas’s phone number, according to People magazine. Thomas also reportedly is not in possession of his phone while he remains hospitalized.

Thomas spoke with British tabloids after the surgery, telling them he hoped to reconnect with his daughter before he dies.

“I’ve always said I am open to reconciling with my daughter,” he told the Daily Mail. “I have never stopped loving her. I don’t want to die estranged from Meghan. I want to meet my grandkids. It might be nice to meet her husband too.”

The Markles have been estranged since the lead-up to Meghan’s wedding to Prince Harry in 2018. Meghan was reportedly angered by her father’s cooperation with the paparazzi in multiple instances.

Thomas has suffered from several health problems since their estrangement, including two heart attacks before the wedding in May 2018 and a stroke in May 2022. He needed emergency surgery to remove his left leg after a blood clot cut off circulation and the leg turned black, according to family members.
