Meghan Markle has a new critic: her daughter Princess Lilibet.
The 3-year-old taste tested her mom’s homemade strawberry preserve jam from her As Ever brand in a video shared to Markle’s Instagram Stories Saturday.
“What do we think, Lili?” Markle, 43, asked in the clip of her boiling a batch of the jam in a pot on the stove.
“I think it’s beautiful,” Markle and Prince Harry’s daughter responded.
Lilibet, who spoke with an American accent, could be seen holding a wooden spoon in the video.
The Duchess of Sussex officially released her signature jam and a handful of other items on her As Ever website earlier this month. The other items include a limited-edition $28 wildflower honey with honeycomb, $12 herbal teas (hibiscus, peppermint and lemon ginger), $14 crepe mix and shortbread cookies with $15 flower sprinkles.
Less than an hour after the items went live, the entire stock had sold out due to overwhelming demand.
On an episode of her “With Love, Meghan” Netflix series, Markle showed off her jam and said, “Lili and I actually made this batch together. She picked all those berries with me.”
“And then she’s like, ‘No no, Mama. I’ll do it,’ and she wants to try,” the “Suits” alum continued. “She’s like, ‘I’ll stir it. I’ll mash it.’ Great. And then you keep the hot stuff away and go ahead and pour it in. But she’s proud. That part feels good.”
Lilibet’s American accent was heard for the first time in January, when Markle announced the death of her and Harry’s rescue dog Guy. In the Instagram clip, Lilibet and Prince Archie, 5, could be heard singing to the beagle.
In March, Markle revealed on “The Drew Barrymore Show” that her children have also picked up Harry’s British accent.
“Some of the words that they still say with a British accent, so they’ll say z-e-b-r-a and what else do they say? They have these little moments where it comes out and because they have very American accents, but they say words that are just like him and I think it’s adorable,” Markle shared.
Markle occasionally shares footage of her two children on her Instagram account that she relaunched on New Year’s Day.
In February, Markle shared a picture of Lilibet when she launched the website for As Ever. She also posted her daughter on a boat with Harry, 40, on International Women’s Day and hanging with “auntie” Serena Williams at home in March.
In December, both Archie and Lilibet appeared in the Sussexes’ 2024 Christmas card that showed the siblings running to their parents.
But Royal expert Matt Wilkinson recently claimed on Hello! magazine’s Right Royal podcast that Harry isn’t fond of Markle putting their kids on her social media.
“You could argue that Meghan isn’t exploiting the children, she’s just…well maybe she is exploiting them,” said Wilkinson, “but she’s using them to display her brand. She’s a mother. A homemaker and cooking at home.”
“I don’t particularly mind her putting pictures of the children up,” Wilkinson said, adding, “I think Harry probably is not overly happy.”
