Michelle Obama bringing new live podcast to Brooklyn next month

With her latest book, “The Look,” Michelle Obama is kicking off a live tour for a new podcast series in Brooklyn.

The former first lady, producer and best-selling author will be joined by actress Tracee Ellis Ross at the Brooklyn Academy of Music on Nov. 5, the same day a special, six-part podcast series, “IMO: The Look,” launches.

The high-wattage event, announced Thursday, will promote Obama’s new tome, which examines her fashion choices during her time in the White House and throughout her public life.

Fashion stylist Meredith Koop, makeup artist Carl Ray and hairstylists Yene Damtew and Njeri Radway offer behind-the-scenes insights on the Chicago native’s most memorable looks while also offering a powerful story about how we present ourselves.

Published by Penguin Random House, “The Look” is scheduled to go on sale Nov. 4.

“IMO: The Look,” will serve as a companion series to IMO, which the “Becoming” author hosts with her brother, Craig Robinson.

Produced by Higher Ground, the media company founded by the Obamas, the new podcast will include conversations with Academy Award-winning actress Jane Fonda, groundbreaking model-activist Bethann Hardison, fashion executive-turned-reality star Jenna Lyons and former fashion magazine editors Nina Garcia and Elaine Welteroth.

According to the announcement, Obama “reveals how she and her team transformed the scrutiny of her public image into a celebration of self-expression, inclusion and impact” during those pre-recorded discussions.

The conversation with “Black-ish” star Ellis Ross will be recorded for a future episode, alongside a scheduled Nov. 12 appearance in Washington, DC with New York Times critic Wesley Morris.
