Michigan doc arrested for plotting sex assault of 5-year-old girl

A Michigan family doctor was arrested for scheming to groom and sexually assault a 5-year-old girl, police said Tuesday.

William Murdoch, 45, was busted in a sting operation, cops in Port St. Lucie, Fla., said in a Facebook post. An undercover officer posed as a mother to a 5-year-old in an online chatroom, and Murdoch “was pursuing a platonic relationship with the fictitious mom” so he could groom and assault her daughter, police said.

“Stomach churning messages were exchanged that entailed his plan to groom the child and quickly turn the situation sexual,” Port St. Lucie police wrote on Facebook. “Murdoch goes into detail of his demented behavior that is too explicit to share in its entirety.”

Investigators examined Murdoch’s iCloud account and found more conversations in which Murdoch’s medical expertise would “assist in other alarming dark web hunts,” cops said.

“This again is too explicit to share in its entirety,” police wrote. “However, it entails conversations of: conception, full term abortions, and intentional drug and alcohol use to cause birth defects.”

The investigation began in June, and a warrant for Murdoch’s arrest was issued in July. Murdoch was first questioned by U.S. Marshals at Detroit’s main airport on July 28, when he returned from a trip alongside his wife, Treasure Coast Newspapers reported. He will be extradited to Florida to face charges because the investigation began there. Port St. Lucie is about 100 miles north of Miami.
