Mindy Kaling name-checked Meghan Markle at the 2025 Golden Globes.
The “Mind Show” creator, 45, spoke about the Duchess of Sussex, 43, during her chat with E! News on Sunday’s pre-Globes red carpet.
Earlier this week, Meghan released the first trailer for her new Netflix cooking show, “With Love, Meghan,” which features the former working royal in the kitchen with some of her famous friends — including Kaling.
The kitchen, however, is not in Markle’s $14.65 million Montecito, California, mansion, but rather in an $8 million farmhouse just 2 miles away, which Markle used as the location for her culinary series, per the Daily Mail.
Yet on E!’s red carpet, Kaling said she visited Meghan at the former “Suits” star’s personal garden.
“I mean, I had had my baby and I think I was two months postpartum and she texted me and was like, ‘Do you want to be on my show?’” Kaling recalled of being asked to appear on “With Love, Meghan.”
“And when you hang out with Meghan, you know the food is going to be good. So it’s just nice for somebody else to be cooking for me.”
She continued, “I was like, ‘I’ll come to Montecito and have you cook for me and go to your garden.’ And thats what we did.”
From the trailer for “With Love, Meghan,” it appears that at least one garden scene — where Markle talks with Alice Waters — was filmed at the garden on the property she used to film her show, not her own.
Set on 5 acres of avocado and lemon groves, the 4,500-square-foot house features an open floor plan, four bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms.
According to one insider who spoke with The Post, Markle sought out a location with the farmhouse aesthetic believing it would help present an “average rustic-look vibe” to viewers rather than one of opulence that might be conjured seeing the kitchen and interiors at her extravagant Montecito mansion.
The Duchess has been criticized just the same, however, with many on social media deriding the choice of locale as tone-deaf.
