Missing New Jersey 17 year-old found dead, prosecutors say

A 17-year-old boy who was reported missing in New Jersey over the weekend has been found dead, officials announced.

The teen, who has not been identified, was first reported missing Sunday night, just before 11:20 p.m., according to a press release from the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office. His disappearance prompted a response from officers with the Plainsboro Police Department, who scoured the area of Hilltown Court in Plainsboro for any sign of the missing teen.

“The search was conducted for several hours,” the prosecutor’s office said, “and the 17-year-old was not found.”

The teen was eventually found unresponsive early Monday morning around 7:45 a.m., in a nearby area, along Grovers Mills Road, which is also in Plainsboro. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Authorities have so far offered few other details about the teen’s disappearance, and his cause of death has not yet been provided.

An investigation into the matter is ongoing, and authorities have asked anyone with information in the case to contact the Plainsboro Police Department.
