Of the five movies that Baena directed, Shannon starred in four of them: 2014’s “Life After Beth,” 2017’s “The Little Hours,” 2020’s “Horse Girl” and 2022’s “Spin Me Round.”

Plaza was in “Life After Beth” and “The Little Hours” with Shannon.

Brie, 42, included a link to Adam Pally’s tribute post too. Pally, 42, collaborated with Baena on three of his films.

“Jeff Baena was a sweet, Jewish boy from Miami,” Pally wrote on his Instagram Jan. 5. “He was a collaborator, a mentor, the scrappiest basketball player with the ugliest jump shot you ever saw.”

Baena was found dead by an assistant at his home in the Los Angeles area on Jan. 3.

The director was pronounced dead at the scene with law enforcement.

Baena was honored at Sunday’s 2025 Golden Globes in a speech by director Brady Corbet as he was accepting his award for “The Brutalist.”

At the end of his speech, Corbet said, “Tonight my heart is with Aubrey Plaza and Jeff’s family.”

Baena and Plaza began dating in 2011 and were married in 2021.

The “Agatha All Along” actress has yet to make a public statement about her husband’s death.

During an appearance on “The Drew Barrymore Show” the same year as their wedding, Plaza touched on balancing her personal and professional relationship with Baena.

“It’s so great, it’s so complicated,” Plaza told Barrymore about working with her husband. “It’s, like, extreme highs and extreme, you know, complications. It’s a really hard thing to navigate, but we’ve been together for 11 years. We just muscle our way through it.”
