A young mother and her 4-month-old baby were shot and killed in broad daylight on a Hartford, Conn. street Tuesday during a drive-by shooting, authorities said.
Police responded just before 3 p.m. to a report that a car with three gunshot victims had shown up at Hartford Hospital, WFSB-TV reported. The 20-year-old mother and her baby boy were pronounced dead, while another passenger who had also been shot was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Gunmen pulled up next to a car in which the woman, baby, and two other people were sitting on New Britain Avenue, and unleashed a hail of bullets, Lt. Aaron Boisvert of the Hartford Police Department said. The car’s driver was unharmed, WFSB reported.
Police were investigating the deadly attack, which took place near a busy grocery store, WVIT-TV reported, and appealed to the public for any information.
