Two people on a motorcycle died after a collision with an SUV driver in Brooklyn, police said Tuesday.
The fatal collision occurred around 8:10 p.m. Monday on Atlantic Ave. and Elton St. in Cypress Hills when Reinaldo Rodriguez, 42, who was riding his 2025 Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling west on Atlantic Ave. with a passenger, Mirella Vega, also 42, collided with a 2021 Mercedes-Benz SUV being driven by a 66-year-old man.
The SUV driver was traveling east on Atlantic Ave. and trying to make a left turn, heading north on Elton St. when Rodriguez reached the intersection of Elton St. and crashed into the rear passenger side of the SUV. The impact caused Rodriguez and Vega to eject from the motorcycle, cops said.
Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene. Vega was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital by EMS but died shortly after.
They both lived in Brooklyn. Rodriguez was just blocks away from his home in East New York and Vega lived in Bedford-Stuyvesant, cops said.
The SUV driver stayed at the the scene, cops said. He was later transported by EMS to Brookdale University Hospital, where he was in stable condition.
No arrests have been made as the NYPD Highway District’s collision investigation squad is still investigating the crash.
