Motorcyclist killed in crash with Long Island school bus in Hicksville

A motorcyclist was killed Tuesday morning after crashing with a school bus full of students on Long Island, police and school district officials said.

Antonio Bosotina, 21, of East Meadow, was riding a 2022 Kawasaki when he collided with a school bus on Old Country Road in Hicksville just before 7:30 a.m., according to Nassau County police.

None of the 28 students onboard the bus nor the driver were hurt. Bosotina was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

In a letter to the school community, Hicksville Superintendent Theodore Fulton said the bus involved was contracted by the district through a third-party. He added the school was fully cooperating with the investigation and expressed his condolences to the motorcyclist’s loved ones and the school district as a whole.

“Events like this deeply affect our entire community,” Fulton wrote. “Counseling and support resources will be made available at our schools for any students or staff who may need them in the coming days.”

The incident comes more than three months after a 60-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by a school bus while in the crosswalk in Floral Park.
