An MTA conductor was brazenly slashed in the face at a Bronx subway station Tuesday, police said.
The 36-year-old woman, who was on duty, was attacked by a stranger around 12:23 p.m. at the Whitlock Avenue station in Foxhurst, cops said.
The conductor was looking up and down the platform when she was slashed on the left side of her face, according to ABC7. EMS transported her to Lincoln Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.
The male suspect, who was described as wearing a black hoodie sweatshirt and green pants, took off and remained on the loose Tuesday night.
TWU Local 100 President John Chiarello was outraged at the vicious attack.
“An unprovoked attack with a deadly weapon is every Train Conductor’s nightmare, and it has happened again,” he said in a statement,
“The union is calling on the City to notify police patrols to be especially vigilant and cover the Conductor’s cab area as they work to reduce crime,” he added. “This easily could have been a deadly assault — we must do everything we can to prevent the next one.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
