It’s model behavior.
Ahead of the 2025 Met Gala on Monday, May 5, supermodel Naomi Campbell, 54, revealed that she won’t attend the biggest night in fashion amid rumors of bad blood with Anna Wintour.
“Congratulations to Anna Wintour, the brilliant designers, the dedicated Met Gala team, and stunning attendees of tonight’s extraordinary celebration,” Campbell wrote on Instagram.
“I have to say, what perfect timing for the ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’ theme. It really celebrates how Black dandyism has shaped fashion and how fashion has been a way for Black people to express who they are and claim their power,” she added.
The runway veteran continued by saying she wouldn’t be there.
“I was so honored to be invited to tonight’s big event, but regretfully cannot make it. Even though I’m not there in person, I’m with you all in spirit, carried by the legacy of my beloved friend, the late Andre Leon Talley. His commanding presence, vision and belief that fashion is art helped shape what the Met Gala is presenting tonight. I can’t wait to see how everyone mixes African and European style traditions on those famous steps tonight! The creativity will be amazing,” she finished.
Campbell and Wintour, 75, first sparked feud rumors in September.
The “Vogue” editor-in-chief shaded the British supermodel for allegedly being late to Fashion Row’s Fashion Show and Style Awards in Harlem, New York.
Wintour took the stage to present the Fashion Icon Award to Campbell, but she was clearly ticked off that Campbell hadn’t shown up to the event yet.
“I am a very punctual person, and I have the honor of presenting tonight to someone who is often late,” said Wintour.
However, a source familiar with the situation exclusively told The Post at the time that Campbell was not actually late to the event. She was slated to speak at 7:27 p.m. and arrived at the event at 7:26 p.m., while Wintour’s speech began at 7:15 p.m.
Campbell took the stage after a second introduction from Harper’s Bazaar editor-in-chief Samira Nasr, and she used her speech to clap back at Wintour.
“Yes, Naomi’s always late,” Campbell began, “but I believe in my high power, and I want to thank my higher power for having me be here.”
“It’s so important that I’m here today, and I’m honored to be here in Harlem. Everything’s going to work out the way it’s going to work out. It wasn’t my choice to have the other lady,” she said, seemingly referring to Wintour.
“I’d much rather have this,” Campbell said, gesturing toward Nasr.
This year’s Met Gala takes place Monday, May 5, starting around 5:30 p.m. Vogue holds the livestreaming reins on Vogue.com, YouTube and the outlet’s social platforms.
Singer and actor Teyana Taylor, actor and producer La La Anthony and actor and “SNL” comedian Ego Nwodim will host this year’s livestream.
The 2025 Met Gala is co-chaired by Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams and, of course, Vogue queen bee Anna Wintour. LeBron James is an honorary chair, but, like Campbell, he won’t be there either.
