Netflix mocked over Wednesday Addams float at Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade

The new Wednesday Addams float was different from what fans of the show expected when it debuted at the 2024 Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade.

Based on the 2022 Netflix drama, the float was among the new 22 floats that hit the rainy New York City parade on Thursday morning. However, many declared that the giant balloon of Jenna Ortega’s character looked “more like Thursday than Wednesday.”

Social media users didn’t hold back when mocking the streaming giant with balloon-sized criticism.

“I don’t know what day of the week that is but it’s not Wednesday,” another person joked on X, formerly Twitter. “Not my Wednesday,” another chimed in.

“She isn’t in the mood for Thanksgiving… Halloween instead?” a third critic teased. “It looks weird, if you don’t mind me being honest,” shared another naysayer.

Some suggested that Wednesday’s non-expressive appearance gave “Squid Game” energy.

“I legit thought this was an ad for the new Squid Game,” one comparer wrote. “Squid Games vibe haha,” a second responded, while a third echoed, “Now we just need a Squid Games float to look like Wednesday and we in business.”

Others poked fun at the discrepancy in the day of the week.

“Having a giant Wednesday float in a parade that is exclusively held on Thursdays is making me laugh so hard for some reason,” they posted.

Netflix’s supernatural drama “Wednesday” — which included Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams and OG Wednesday Christina Ricci — premiered on Netflix in Nov. 2022.

Ortega will reprise her lead role as the morbid and emotionally reserved Wednesday Addams in Season Two, which has been slated to be released in late 2025.

Season One of “Wednesday” collected several awards and walked away with four Emmy nominations and one win for Outstanding Contemporary Costumes for a Series.

The Wednesday float isn’t the only mishap at this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade.

Al Roker made a huge mistake when revealing a “Wicked” spoiler on-air while interviewing Idina Menzel. Viewers also accused producers of doing the iconic weatherman “dirty” by making him look miniature in an itty bitty chair next to Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb.

Late-night host Jimmy Fallon also caught flak for bizarrely wearing a pair of sunglasses despite the downpour and overcast skies in the city.

Thursday marked the 98th Macy’s Day Parade and Kotb’s last. In Sept., she announced her plan to retire from the “Today” show after 26 years at NBC. She will continue her duties until next year when Craig Melvin replaces her. Kotb’s last show will be Jan. 10.
