New Orleans welcomes Taylor Swift with giant friendship bracelet

Taylor Swift is getting a huge “Eras Tour” welcome in New Orleans. The city decked out the Caesars Superdome with a Swiftie-inspired friendship bracelet in preparation for the “Karma” singer’s 3-night takeover starting on Friday.

Swifties are known to wear friendship bracelets to her concerts, inspired by her 2022 song “You’re on Your Own, Kid.”

The bracelets have become such a part of the Taylor Swift concert experience that her now boyfriend, Travis Kelce, made one in a clever attempt to give the Grammy winner his number.

In 2023, Kelce attended Swift’s Eras tour when it came through Kansas City, hoping to give her the bracelet he made. “I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings,” Travis said on his podcast, “New Heights.” “So I was a little butt-hurt I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her.”

Kelce continued: “If you’re up on Taylor Swift concerts, there are friendship bracelets and I received a bunch of them being there, but I wanted to give Taylor Swift one with my number on it.” That message made its way to Swift and the future couple eventually got in touch.

Earlier this month, even vice presidential candidate Tim Walz was seen sporting such a bracelet at the Vice Presidential debate, acknowledging Swift’s endorsement of him and Kamala Harris.

The Eras Tour is entering its final phase and will end in December of 2024.
