Newborn daughter of woman killed in Queens house fire missing, feared dead in blaze


The newborn daughter of a woman killed in a Queens house fire is missing and feared to have been killed in the blaze, authorities said Wednesday.

The Monday evening blaze erupted in a home on Dongan Ave. near Broadway in Elmhurst and spread to a neighboring home.

Miguelian Alcantara, 34, was killed by the fire. Her daughter, Emma Alcantara, born Jan. 23, has still not been found as firefighters continue to search through the rubble of the home, which completely collapsed.

Ten other victims needed medical treatment, including three firefighters who suffered minor injuries and a 22-year-old man rushed to Harlem Hospital in critical condition with burned covering 99% of his body.

Other victims include a 10-year-old girl taken to Harlem Hospital with breathing issues and a 13-year-old girl who was taken to Elmhurst Hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the four-alarm fire is still under investigation.
