Green Bay Packers player Rasheed Walker was arrested on gun possession charges in LaGuardia Airport, officials said Saturday.
The 25-year-old offensive lineman was taken into custody without incident on Friday after he admitted to Delta employees at Terminal C that he had a gun in his bag as he attempted to get onto a flight.
The pistol and some ammunition were in a lock box, but he didn’t have the necessary license to carry in New York, prosecutors said.
He was charged with weapons possession and was released without bail after a brief arraignment hearing.
His attorney, Arthur Aidala, said Walker’s gun was legally licensed in Wisconsin, but the NFL player didn’t know he couldn’t travel to New York with it.
“We are confident the matter will be resolved favorably,” Aidala told ESPN.
The 6-foot-6 Walker was a seventh-round draft pick for the Packers in 2022 after playing for Penn State.
