COMMANDERS at PACKERS
8:15 p.m., Packers by 3 ½, 48 ½
HANK’S HONEYS: The Commanders lived for these games last year, consistently lifting their game against the strongest competition. Green Bay certainly fits that bill. The Packers made a huge statement against the Lions in Week 1, looking every bit the Super Bowl contender behind QB Jordan Love. Normally, underdogs are attractive on a short week, particularly a team as solid as the Commanders. But throw in the prime time atmosphere of Lambeau Field and this might be a hill too tall for the visitors.
The Commanders’ defense held the Giants without a touchdown last week, but that was the Giants. There are holes in that unit that Green Bay’s balanced attack can exploit.
The big question is will Micah Parsons, just two games into his Packers career, be a game wrecker? Dan Quinn, Parsons’ old defensive coordinator in Dallas, knows that he is one of the few pass rushers with the speed to chase down Jayden Daniels. An eye-popping 4.5 of his 12 sacks last year come against the rookie sensation. The Packers moved him around last week, hunting for mismatches. Washington’s O-line was caved in a new times by the Giants and RT Josh Conerly Jr. may be that pigeon.
IF I WERE A BETTING MAN: Packers and the over.
