Nick Reiner believes he’s victim of a ‘conspiracy,’ new doc claims

Nick Reiner, accused in the brutal slayings of his parents Rob and Michele Reiner, allegedly believes he’s the victim of a “conspiracy,” according to a new documentary.

In TMZ’s “The Reiner Murders: What Really Happened,” airing Friday night on Fox and streaming Saturday on Hulu, sources say the 32-year-old knows he killed his parents but doesn’t understand why he’s behind bars and facing life in prison or the death penalty.

Insiders with direct knowledge claim he’s delusional and believes the people who put him in jail are engaged in a “conspiracy” against him.

The outlet previously reported that Nick was diagnosed in recent years with schizoaffective disorder but was “stable” prior to doctors changing his medication in the weeks before the fatal stabbings.

Sources claim the new meds made him agitated, erratic and increasingly dangerous, saying he suffered a “complete break from reality” by the time he allegedly murdered his parents.

Nick, who has long battled substance abuse and mental health issues, was arrested on Dec. 14, just hours after his parents were found dead in their Los Angeles home. He was charged two days later with two counts of first-degree murder, with a special allegation that he used a dangerous weapon — a knife — to carry out the killings.

It’s believed that Nick will plead not guilty by reason of insanity, with the heart of his defense likely to hinge on allegations that his doctors didn’t attempt to place him on a psychiatric hold amid the shift in medication, despite his concerning behavior.

Nick’s attorney Alan Jackson withdrew himself from the case on Wednesday in the minutes before his client was scheduled to be arraigned, but not without telling the press that “Nick Reiner is not guilty of murder.” He will now be represented by public defender Kimberly Greene, according to TMZ.
