Nicole Kidman was blindsided twice.
The actress had her eyes wide shut when it came to both of her divorces: first with Tom Cruise and the other with Keith Urban.
Kidman, 58, filed for divorce from Urban, 57, on Tuesday, Sept. 30, after 19 years of marriage.
Sources claimed the “Babygirl” actress feels “very betrayed” and “shocked” over their split, much like she did when Cruise, 63, filed for divorce in 2001.
Similar to her marriage with Cruise, Kidman celebrated a milestone anniversary with Urban not long before they split.
Kidman and Cruise tied the knot on Dec. 24, 1990, and had just celebrated their tenth anniversary when they announced their separation in February 2001.
The “Top Gun” actor filed for divorce days later, to Kidman’s alleged surprise.
“This came as a shock to [Kidman],” court papers obtained by ABC News that May read. “On Dec. 24 the parties had happily celebrated their 10th anniversary with a group of friends. During the balance of December and thereafter the parties were intimate; In fact [Kidman] became pregnant by [Cruise] but lost the baby through a miscarriage.”
Like her relationship with Urban, the “Big Little Lies” star reportedly tried to salvage her marriage to Cruise.
Kidman “protested [Cruise’s] intention to dissolve their marriage and urged him not to leave but to enter marriage counseling with her, or take other steps to address whatever problems may have existed in their marriage,” the documents continued.
However, the “Mission: Impossible” actor “said his decision was final and he departed the parties’ home,” per the outlet.
For his part, Cruise claimed they had separated before their tenth anniversary and fired back at her allegations that she was stunned over their divorce.
In his filing, the action star alleged Kidman “has always known exactly why the parties are divorcing.”
“Anyone who’s been in a relationship knows that’s not how it goes down,” he told Barbara Walters, per E! News, in 2002, “and I think that it’s something that is between us.”
Kidman threw herself into work following their split, but soon realized that wasn’t the answer.
“To be completely honest, I was running from my life at that time,” she said during the 2015 Women in the World summit. “I wasn’t able to handle the reality of my life. And as an actor, you have this wonderful thing where you can go and get lost in somebody else’s life and become somebody else for a period of time.”
Despite winning an Oscar in 2003 for her lead role in “The Hours,” she wanted more.
“That caused an epiphany, which was, ‘Actually, this is not the answer,’” Kidman explained. “I was sitting in The Beverly Hills Hotel and it was all extraordinary and I was the loneliest I’d ever been.”
Fast-forward to 2005, when she met Urban at the G’Day USA gala in Los Angeles, Calif.
The two wed on June 25, 2006, with Kidman paying tribute to her husband to commemorate 19 years of marriage just three months before their separation.
On Monday, The Post confirmed that the “Practical Magic 2” actress and the “Somebody Like You” singer had separated.
Insiders claimed Kidman and Urban had split in June, and that the country crooner had moved out of their family home.
The exes were last seen in public together on June 20 at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, held at the Geodis Park stadium in Nashville, Tenn.
Kidman filed for divorce on Tuesday, citing “irreconcilable differences” in the documents obtained by The Post.
Meanwhile, sources claimed he was already seeing another woman, noting the news is “all over Nashville,” although it’s unclear if he moved on before or after leaving Kidman.
“All the signs point to the fact Keith is with another woman,” one person noted to TMZ. “Let’s just say, Nicole doesn’t dispute that, but she’s still shocked over it.”
“Nicole’s hurt and feels betrayed,” an insider told People. “It’s devastating to her. She’s shocked.”
While fans might have been surprised over their split, Kidman and Urban’s separation “really hasn’t been a secret” to their inner circle.
“He has been making questionable choices for some time now, and this was not the case of them just drifting apart,” another source told People. “For those around him, this has felt more like a gradual drift than some big shocking break.”
The exes have reportedly already agreed to a parenting plan for their two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.
The deal allegedly states their kids will spend 306 days with Kidman and 59 days with Urban, per TMZ, and that all major decisions surrounding Sunday and Faith will be made jointly.
Neither party will receive monthly child support, according to People, which noted that Kidman and Urban previously worked out an agreement in which he has “already prepaid all child support obligations.”
Besides her kids with Urban, Kidman also shares two adopted children with Cruise: daughter Bella, 32, and son Connor, 30.
This marks Kidman’s second divorce and Urban’s first.
Cruise, meanwhile, has two others besides Kidman under his belt.
He said “I do” to actress Mimi Rogers in 1987. They divorced in Feb. 1990, just months before he wed Kidman.
Cruise’s third and most recent divorce was with Katie Holmes.
They were married from 2006 to 2012, and have one daughter, Suri, 19.
