A New Jersey woman pleaded guilty to forging student refund checks and pocketing approximately $75,000 from Rowan College of South Jersey, officials said Friday.
Jennifer Wilson, 40, of Westville, a former school employee, used her position to issue fraudulent student refund checks and deposit them into her personal bank account, the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office said.
She did so by forging students’ endorsements in a scheme carried out between February 2023 and March 2024, investigators said.
On Friday, Wilson pleaded guilty to third-degree forgery in connection with the scheme, according to Gloucester County Prosecutor Andrew Johns.
As part of the plea agreement, Wilson will be required to pay restitution, forfeit her employment with the college and be subject to a permanent bar from public employment in the state, officials said.
She’s scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 30, with prosecutors saying they intend to recommend 364 days in jail.
Rowan College of South Jersey is a public community college with campuses in Gloucester and Cumberland counties and nearly 8,000 students enrolled.
