A New Jersey man has been arrested in the stabbing death of a 41-year-old man in a late Monday incident being investigated as a domestic dispute, prosecutors said Tuesday.
Officers with the Bayonne Police Department responded to a report of a dispute on Meadow Street just before 10:20 p.m., Acting Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello said in a press release.
Responding officers arrived at the scene and located a male victim, later identified as Richard Arcos, of Garfield, suffering from an apparent stab wound.
Arcos was pronounced dead less than an hour later, Mello said, adding that the cause and manner of death are pending the findings from the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
A subsequent investigation by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Bayonne Police Department led to the arrest of 28-year-old Andrew Fuentes of Bayonne.
Authorities did not provide additional details on the stabbing or how the two men were related.
Arcos was arrested at the scene and charged with aggravated manslaughter and related weapons offenses, including possession of a knife for an unlawful purpose, officials said.
The City of Bayonne, in Hudson County, is about 12 miles southwest of Midtown Manhattan.
