NJ PATH service resumes after system-wide suspension at rush hour



PATH trains resumed service “with delays” following a system-wide shutdown Thursday morning, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey announced.

Localized train delays were reported shortly after 7:30 a.m. after crews were alerted of a “track condition” near the Grove Street station in Jersey City.

About an hour later, at the height of the Thursday morning commute, the public transportation system announced a system-wide suspension as crews continued working to address the condition at Grove St.

New Jersey Transit rail and bus services were cross-honoring PATH tickets systemwide, while the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail and the New York Waterway also honored PATH tickets on select routes, the Port Authority said.

Some riders took to social media to express their frustration. One person said customers weren’t being allowed into a station, while another said the 8:56 train at NJ Transit was “packed” with PATH commuters.

Around 9 a.m., PATH officials announced that service had resumed “with residual delays,” adding ticket-cross-honoring was scheduled to end at 10 a.m.
