NJ teenager charged with killing 2 women in Rockland County

A New Jersey teenager was arrested Sunday and charged with killing two women in Rockland County, N.Y., authorities said.

Alan Aba, 19, was captured Sunday night, less than 24 hours after two women were killed in a Spring Valley apartment, the Rockland/Westchester Journal News reported. The victims have not been publicly identified.

Officers located the two women around 8:30 p.m. Saturday, when they responded to a call for a welfare check, according to NJ.com. The cops on the scene found two women suffering from severe injuries.

One woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other victim was transported to a nearby hospital, News 12 New York reported. However, the second woman was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Aba was arrested the next day, according to the Journal News. He is a resident of Westwood, N.J., about 8 miles south of the murder scene.

Cops said Aba and the two victims knew each other and there was no further threat to the public, NJ.com reported. Aba was arraigned Sunday evening on charges of first-degree murder and taken to Rockland County jail.

Contrary to initial reports, police said there were no firearms involved in the attack on the two women. Their causes of death have not been publicly revealed, and investigators did not publicly speculate on any potential motive for the killings.

Spring Valley detective Matthew Galli told the Journal News that even though Aba was captured, cops were still looking for more information on the attack.
