North Jersey mom charged with murder of 3-year-old daughter

A North Jersey woman has been arrested in the killing of her 3-year-old daughter earlier this month, authorities announced Tuesday.

Jeanine Glass, 43, was charged with first-degree murder in the case, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office said in a press release. The toddler, who has not been publicly identified, was found dead in a bathtub in her mother’s Florham Park home on July 6.

“The death of the little girl is a heartbreaking and senseless loss for the Florham Park community,” Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll said. “Our hearts go out to all those coping with this unconscionable tragedy, including loved ones and first responders who answered the call that night.”

Florham Park cops and emergency medical crews responded to the home around 10:40 p.m. on July 6 for a report of a semiconscious woman, later identified as Glass, authorities said. Her clothes were wet, and she was transported to a local hospital.

Investigators then went upstairs in the home and found Glass’ daughter face down in the bathtub in several inches of water, according to the prosecutor’s office. First responders performed CPR on the girl, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The case was not known publicly until last week. In addition to the first-degree murder charge, Glass was also charged with one count of second-degree child endangerment.
