An NYPD police officer was arrested Tuesday, accused of raping a woman in a car after a party in Brooklyn, according to Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez.
Daheem Morris, 27, is charged with rape, sexual abuse, forcible touching and sexual misconduct for the Sept. 8 assault, prosecutors said. He was released without bail and is due back in court on May 8.
The victim was alone in a car with Morris when she repeatedly told him to stop and tried to push him away as he forced himself on her after a party both of them had attended in Brooklyn, according to prosecutors.
The pair had known each other for about two years and shared mutual friends, prosecutors said.
The victim told her cousin about the alleged rape later that day. The NYPD’s Internal Affairs Bureau investigated the case.
Morris joined the force on Oct. 19, 2022, and was most recently assigned to Police Service Area 1, which patrols NYCHA developments in Brooklyn. He was previously assigned to the 73rd Precinct, which covers Brownsville.
He has been recognized six times by the Police Department for excellent and meritorious police duty, according to the NYPD’s website.
An NYPD spokesman refused to share details on the case, citing an ongoing investigation.
