The NYPD is looking for an 11-year-old autistic Brooklyn boy who disappeared, with his mother hospitalized following question about the youngster’s whereabouts, police sources said Friday. No picture of the boy has been made available.
The city Administration for Children’s Services called police at 1:33 p.m. Thursday and asked that officers conduct a wellness check on Jacob Pritchett and his mother. When police arrived at the child’s Brownsville apartment on Howard Ave. near East New York Ave., Jacob was nowhere to be found, cops said.
It wasn’t immediately clear when Jacob was last seen. Citing sources, WPIX 11 reported the child may have been missing for three weeks.
Jacob’s mother was taken by medics to Brookdale University Hospital.
ACS spokeswoman Marisa Kaufman said started its investigation into the matter “as soon as this family came to our attention.” She did not provide further details.
Officials at the Howard Avenue property management, which operates the building Jacob lives said they were “deeply concerned by the events unfolding in our community.”
“We will continue to support our community and the NYPD throughout this challenging time, and our highest hope is for the ultimate safety of the missing child,” the agency said.
