An NYPD officer has been shot in Midtown Manhattan near a Park Ave. skyscraper as a potential active shooter situation unfolds, a police source said.
The shooting happened at Park Ave. and 51st St. around 6:30 p.m., police confirmed. At least one person — a cop — was shot, a police source said.
The officer’s condition was not immediately known.
The shooter was reportedly wearing a bulletproof vest and armed with a rife. He may have barricaded himself inside a building, sources said.
