Police on Friday released surveillance images of a hooded suspect who shot two people on a Far Rockaway street in Queens, killing one of them, police said.
Victim Johnny Ellis, 42, and a 36-year-old man were walking toward the intersection of New Haven Ave. and Beach 19th St. about 12:20 a.m. when two men dressed all in black approached them.
Each suspect pulled a gun and opened fire, hitting Ellis twice in the chest and twice in the stomach, a police source said. The younger victim was hit once in the back as he turned and tried to escape.
Medics rushed Ellis to Jamaica Hospital but he could not be saved. The other victim was taken to the same hospital in stable condition, police said.
It wasn’t immediately clear who the intended target was. At least six shots were fired.
The two suspects stormed off west on New Haven Ave., cops said.
No arrests have been made.
Cops canvassing the area recovered surveillance footage of one of the two men walking near the shooting scene. Detectives released the image in the hopes someone recognizes him.
Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is urged to call NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
