Offset is advertising a gig in Moscow next month, despite his label’s boycott against Russia.
The 39-year-old rapper, who’s real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus, posted on Instagram that he’ll appear at MTC Live Hall on April 18. The venue is also advertising the Friday night show, where ticket prices start around $60 and top out at just over $5,000.
Offset is signed by Motown Records, which is a label owned by Universal Music Group (UMG). The California-based company immediately ceased operations in Russia and closed its offices there in March 2022 when Russian President Vladimir Putin sent his troops into Ukraine unprovoked.
“We urge an end to the violence in Ukraine as soon as possible,” Universal said in an announcement enacting its ban.
UMG was one of many companies to sever ties with Russia following its invasion, which was met with strong opposition from democratic nations in the West, including the United States. But since Donald Trump became president in January, America’s position on the war has become less clear.
Offset is perhaps best known for his tumultuous relationship with Grammy winner Cardi B, with whom he has three children. She filed for divorce in August, citing “no reasonable prospect of reconciliation.”
Offset established himself as a bankable musician through his work with the Georgia hip-hop group Migos, which disbanded in 2023.
He follows fellow rapper DaBaby in showing willingness to play for a Russian audience, despite the country’s continued attack on Ukraine.
DaBaby, who also works under UMG, posted clips on Monday of a concert he recently performed in Russia. Local media reported the concert took place Friday at Moscow’s VK Stadium.
Motown Records has neither confirmed nor promoted Offset’s Moscow show, according to the BBC, which first reported on the scheduled performance.
