“Only Murders in the Building” has finally revealed the Season 5 killer — and who the next victim will be in Season 6.
On Tuesday, Hulu announced that the show was officially renewed for a sixth season, set in London. In an Oct. 8 interview, co-creator John Hoffman told Variety, “I’ll go as long as they’ll have us.”
Spoilers below.
Season 5 ended on Oct. 28.
Starring Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez – with a bundle of big guest stars like Meryl Streep, Jane Lynch, and Tina Fey – the hit Hulu series is about a trio of strangers turned sleuths and true crime podcasters, investigating murders in the Arconia, their Upper West Side apartment building.
During Season 5, they were looking into who killed the Arconia’s doorman, Lester (Teddy Coluca).
The mobster Nicky (Bobby Cannavale) was an early suspect, but he got killed too.
It turns out, the killer was Mayor Beau Tillman (Keegan-Michael Key). He was having an affair with mobster Nicky’s wife, and when he and Nicky got in a fight, Lester got caught up in the violence.
Billionaire Jay Pflug (Logan Lerman) also turned himself in as an accessory to the crime, alongside Bash Steed (Christoph Waltz) and Camila White (Renée Zellweger).
Cannavale, 55, recently told The Post, “Paul Rudd’s a good friend of mine. I said to him, ‘You had a good time on that show, right? Because I think I want to do it.’ And he goes, ‘Are you the dead guy?’ I go, ‘I am the dead guy.’ He goes, ‘You got to do it. That’s the part.’”
Previous season’s murder victims were played by Julian Cihi (Season 1), Jayne Houdyshell (Season 2), Rudd (Season 3) and Jane Lynch (Season 4).
“I mean, chief reason to do that show is to work with those guys. It’s just a big thrill to get to work with Steve Martin and Martin Short,” Cannavale said. “A huge thrill.”
As for who the next victim is, when the show returns for Season 6?
The next death is none other than their rival, Cinda Canning (Tina Fey).
On Oct. 27, Deadline reported that a potential Season 6 will move from the Big Apple to Big Ben, bound for London.
